ABOUT THE ARTWORK
12" x 12" x 1.5" - Acrylic/Charcoal on deep canvas Land Study 5 was designed to be a complement with any or all of the Land Study 1-5 paintings but is totally a stand alone piece all on its own. The subject of the Land Study paintings are abstracted views of eroded rocks and sky in Utah's National Parks but on a very small scale. LS5 & LS6 look great paired together or in a grouping with any of the Land Study paintings. This painting has a very smooth surface and varnished in a matte finish to resist glare. It's signed on the back and side edge of the canvas. This painting is framed in a black floater frame. See additional photo for detail. Part of the Shapes and Shadows Collection.

As a minimalist artist, I find inspiration in capturing the essence of Earth's organic elements through silhouettes and simplified shapes. I celebrate the inherent beauty of rock formations, flowers, and water, blending well-defined shapes with expansive negative spaces to create intriguing compositions. ~~ Bio Laura Welshans is a multi-media abstract artist residing in Little Rock, Arkansas. She has exhibited her artwork in juried group shows like the 61st Delta Exhibition of the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts and The Other Art Fair in Dallas and Chicago as well as showcased her work in numerous solo exhibitions throughout her home state of Arkansas. She received a fellowship from Artist INC and selected for the Jen Tough Gallery Collective in Santa Fe, NM. Her work belongs to collections including CARTI Cancer Center and The Haywood Hotel. Laura shares her passion by teaching at the CreatorFest summer camp. She has received juried art awards and included in many publications.
