About The Artwork
I became inspired by the motif, a tree that looks like a man and a woman dancing, which I discovered in the woods on a back road in northern Vermont. I have drawn and painted this motif several times, as I find it as intriguing as I hope my audience will. I hope they will find this image and the idea it embodies to be liberating. It is an anthropomorphic tree painted in acrylic on linen because I am allergic to oil paint and the smell of turpentine. I like to make images rather than painting completely abstract tableaux.
