About The Artwork
This is one of a series of glass paintings I have recently produced. I use oil-based glass paint (the same glass paint that's used in stain glass windows) to paint on sheets of glass. The glass paint itself is intensely pigmented and extremely fluid - I use anything but brushes to apply the ink. The medium lends itself to non-figurative work and I enjoy the expressive qualities of the ink and the fact that I am not in total control of the image making. I am a Dunedin based painter / printmaker and I have been exhibiting my work throughout New Zealand for a number of years now. I was born in Glasgow but came to New Zealand as a young child. I moved to Dunedin in 2000 in order to attend the Otago School of Art and decided to stay on after graduating in 2003 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (majoring in printmaking).
