First and foremost for me is emotion, regardless of the subject matter. I want to capture the truth of a moment in a completely organic way. I will always favor the imperfections of a thing whether it is the crooked lines of a gutter on a building in Paris or the nontraditional beauty of a portrait subject, as these are part of a reality which generate true feeling. A lot of my portraiture is sort of Narrative- figurative in that while the pieces are non programmatic, one gets the feeling of a small self contained story of vignette.
