ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Goddess Leïla. Her name means Daughter of the night in Arabic. Female empowerment, connection to Nature and freedom is at the heart of my work. This painting is apart of the Atlas Mountains Sisterhood series. In a hectic, absurd, ever more connected/ disconnected world, I find meaning and comfort in Mother Nature: the Higher Source and Divine Feminine. This series is about the power of the "Being" versus the "Doing". Being free to be who we truly are, bare, shameless, diverse, in harmony with each other and Nature. My mission as an artist is to make you feel connected, alive and empowered. When you connect to these women, you connect to your own emotions and to the divine feminine within you - whatever gender you choose to identify to.

Myriam Achour Soumati is a French-Algerian self-taught artist based in London. As a dreamer and highly sensitive child, drawing and painting was always her happy place. Growing up in Paris, Myriam spent her summers drawing and painting in the French countryside in Charentes. After building a successful career in marketing, the desire to chase her childhood dream of becoming an artist was too strong to ignore. In 2017 Soumati Studio was born - Soumati being the name of the Algerian tribe she's descended from. Simple lines, vibrant and grounding colours, a strong sense of freedom and power are the key pillars of her work. From the female form and empowerment, love, self-love, connection to nature to the small things of her everyday life, inspiration is everywhere. By creating, Myriam tries to deeply connect to her body and heart, with love and compassion - art is therapy. She hopes to take you with her on a journey of beauty, aliveness and meaningfulness to help you connect to your heart, to feel empowered, unapologetic, present and free.
