ABOUT THE ARTWORK

"So he decided to let go everything he used to think it is important or valuable. Memories, wounds and even treasure. Preparing himself to accept this new experience." In the past two years I completed several exhibitions, including one depicting the effect of violence in my home country of Syria on the priceless art in that region. And because of that sad subject I was feeling down every time I listen or read any of my interviews or looking at one of my paintings. Therefor, And because I believe in the power of the positive thinking, I wanted to create art that speaks about the positive energy and focusing on the bright side of life. So I created a set of untraditional powerful paintings full of vibrant colors, motion, energy, and emotions. The art show is a reflection of the positive transition we can achieve in our lives only by changing the way we think and react to things to enjoy the "now". I am talking in this exhibition (Color for life) about a person wanted to dance to enjoy the music and have a break from the daily stress. Going with the music to meet himself without any judgment. 1- (Start the dance) so he brought the old moves and skills to this dance, repeating what he used to do before in this new moment. 2- (An apple field) and all of the sudden, the melody enter his soul like an aroma of an apple field, to open his mind to a great vision moved him from inside. 3-(Letting go) so he decided to let go everything he used to think it is important or valuable. Memories, wounds and even treasure. Preparing himself to accept this new experience 4-(Facing the now) then he found himself for the first time in front of the (now) which he used to waste it worrying about the future or being upset from the past’s hurts. 5-(Ezan) after thathe found the new him, the open-minded accepting pure person, who appreciate and live the moment. 6-(inside the yellow light) a light of wisdom has appeared. expelled the pain out of his chest, and converted the hurts into lessons, and put him in a new level of awareness. 7-(Ocean of love) then he felt all the good emotions entered his heart, with a peaceful feeling can heal all the world’s wounds. 8-(wings in red) he flew with wings of passion over all the lovers. 9-(Touching the sky) a gentle color from the sky has calmed his fire down, with a holy touch could erase all his pain. 10-(Victory) then he went out of the dance with a great victory, It was not just a payer or illness healing, It was a real connection with the self, and loving the life with all the spring colors.

Due to the acts of violence from extreme organizations in Syria, a huge number of artwork from that area is being destroyed. Mr. Neima’s paintings speak about these damaged pieces. His work is designed to show the viewer a part of Syria the media doesn’t seem to have time to show, that of what is lost beyond the obvious, the art and emotions it provokes. Essa Neima was born and raised in Syria and currently lives in Washington D.C. He is an art instructor at University of the District of Columbia and has worked in the animation field for ten years between Syria and Dubai. Essa studied art at the University of Damascus in Syria.
