Painting: Acrylic on Canvas.
This painting was selected for a competition in Setúbal, Portugal. The theme of the competition was a portuguese poet called Bocage. He was that kind of poet that entered in a coffeehouse in Lisbon and improvised a poem on whatever subject he had on his mind.
So my response to the challenge was translating one of his poems called "Liberdade" in our contemporary language, the emojis. Today people communicate more through cellphones than face to face. So this painting is a parody and at the same time a critic to our new way of communicating. An old technic, painting, and a new language, emoji, together to remind us that we can still learn from our past and be close to one another.
This painting has texture because it was made with heavy paint and palllet knives.
