The story of the Ēcorces series:
“I was hiking in Australia the first time I observed the bark of an Eucalyptus tree and that literally opened my eyes to a world that was completely unknown to me. It was a revelation and I wanted to create something with it since then. It took me 13 years to have the perfect opportunity to incorporate tree barks in my compositions; With locals artists, we organized a Pop Up Art event and had to create a one of a kind Christmas tree. At the times, I had never approached any 3 dimensional medium so it was a real challenge. I conceived a concept of mobile tree. The base representing the trunk imitates the Florida slash Pine, with the texture. I loved so much working with texture and imitating tree barks that I made it the focused point of the series “Ecorces” and “Lichens”. That was the beginning of my exploration of the abstract patterns of nature theme and the use of mixed media.”

Natalie L. fascination for the Impressionists led her to create her first paintings under this influence. As her tastes has been evolving towards modern and contemporary art, she has gradually moved away from figuration. After a career in the tourism industry, Natalie, a Parisian born artist, left the city life in 1999 to embark on a somewhat "bohemian life style". Traveling the South Pacific gave her the time and inspiration to fulfill her dream of becoming a full-time artist. One of the consequential experiences of her life was sailing around the world. That will lead her to live between Florida and the south west of France. She works in series and the themes and styles are influenced by that changing temporality. From figurative to abstract, from cubism to impressionism, from painting to sculpture, her very eclectic work reflects the pleasure she feel in experimenting.
