Lichens #2 Painting

This heavily textured mixed media painting is composed of 16 panels 20cm x 20cm each, gallery wrapped 4cm. No framing is required and ready to hang: Subject matter continued on the canvas sides. Back signed. The story of the Ēcorces series: “I was hiking in Australia the first time I observed the bark of an Eucalyptus tree and that literally opened my eyes to a world that was completely unknown to me. It was a revelation and I wanted to create something with it since then. It took me 13 years to have the perfect opportunity to incorporate tree barks in my compositions; With locals artists, we organized a Pop Up Art event and had to create a one of a kind Christmas tree. At the times, I had never approached any 3 dimensional medium so it was a real challenge. I conceived a concept of mobile tree. The base representing the trunk imitates the Florida slash Pine, with the texture. I loved so much working with texture and imitating tree barks that I made it the focused point of the series “Ecorces” and “Lichens”.
