This piece is the result of some deep introspection during the solitude of perpetual lock down variations. Along with a mid life reflection of some of those pivotal chapters we all experience in one way or another.

It's unusual for me to title work in a literal sense, though I feel that I'd like to gently invite the viewer to explore those subjects within their own paradigm.

This large and powerful piece is a deep boxed canvas so can be hung with or without a frame. Bold strokes of pallet knife work, some impasto and some glazes, lots of sumptuous linseed oil and an out pouring of emotion.

I believe that art is not only seen, but is a felt experience, as does my greatest influence Howard Hodgkin. This is the realm I choose to work in; aiming to represent or re-create a moment, an emotion using paint as a dialogue. The souls complexity is the reason I choose not to title work in a sense that would give a guide to each derived source. I feel this would throw the viewer into an intellectual process, or even worse confine each piece to boundaries. I hope to evoke a response based on emotion not intellect, for each viewer to be moved on any level. If I can create a space for this and paint a moment, then I am achieving my goal. Though like all artists, I shall strive continuously for the perfect piece.
