About The Artwork

There where lights inside this dream Someone came here and turned them out on me, now it's dark and I can't see, there's always someone with something they need And I give myself away And the takers always take And they wear my skin Like a cape and fly around With nothing to say.

Hanin Chehab, is an interior designer and visual artist based in Beirut. She developed her style in using mixed media and experiment in with different material. Her artwork merges modern digital techniques, photography with, Watercolor, gouache, oil, and others. Born and having lived for seven years in Nairobi, Kenya, Chehab was influenced by the visual element of the natural landscape and the geometrical patterns manifested in textile, artwork, and Kenyan culture In later years, and as she was developing her artistic style, her usage of colors and lines is highly inspired by impressionist, minimalist and contemporary modern art schools. She believes that using mixed techniques expresses best her impressions and concepts. At the age of nine, and after moving to Lebanon, Shehab became aware of her passion for visual art. Her infantile drawings represented her sense of yearning for the “colorful and vibrant Kenya”. Drawing and coloring plants, animals, and repetitive patterns were her means .to escape back to her initial home. Gradually, she developed her interest in over-layering patterns of organic and geometrical forms Her main themes rotate around shattered identity, ruptures and continuity, rootlessness and movement. Her portrays of parts of the human body inscribed within circles is exemplary of these theme.
