In contrast to the much better-known figure of Eve, Lilith is often associated with qualities that, as Christa Wolf aptly put it, can be quite frightening. While Eve exemplifies the bright, worldly aspects of the feminine, Lilith symbolizes its dark, otherworldly side. Hence, under the sign of Lilith, woman becomes a troublemaker, a pursuer of her sexual instincts, wicked, perhaps even a witch or demon—and yet simultaneously the ever-alluring one!
