About The Artwork
My painting practice tends to evolve around a theme. For about a year I was quite fascinated by an old Lily bulb that I had inherited upon moving into a flat. It finally took to bloom after almost a decade of our cohabitation. I was shocked by this sudden crisp, white, pristine flower. It's yellow/orange pistil radiant in the morning light. The plant gifted me three flowerings in all. Years of elegant green foliage and then it simply disappeared. I’ve kept this plants story close to my heart and the image continues to inspire my work appearing again and again from the tip of my brush. I discussed this with BBC Radio summer 2018.
