This painting is part of a new series of works that uses line to build other shapes. The square shape in my work often represents ‘Woman’ and a line symbolises ‘Man.’ So in this work, both these elements are present which might infer the memory of man or genetic coding of male ancestry with in woman. Technical: The texture of the painting is slightly revealing of subtle brush strokes but the surface also appears flat depending on the lighting conditions. Hard-edge lines, which are integral to the art works character, have been immaculately executed using acrylic on paper. Specification: Art work: Original painting Medium: Acrylic paint on heavy weight paper Art movement influences: Minimalism and Colour-field Characteristics: Hard-edge, flat colour with with very subtle surface textures. Painting size: 71 x 52 x 0.1 cm Frame size external edge: 77 x 58 x 1.3 cm Frame: Exhibition quality, custom built wooden frame / brown finish Hanging hardware: Supplied but not attached to frame in case different hanging methods are required by collector.

My interest in art started at an early age. I remember seeing books at home where I grew up in the 1970's. The books were about impressionism, surrealism and my favourite showed art from the DADA movement. In my teens I became obsessed with Andy Warhol and it was at this point that I realised making art was what I wanted to do. The Paintings you see on my Saatchi Art platform are in chronological order. The first paintings were made in 2018. They were created very precisely and accurately and are influenced by minimalist ideas. Through 2019 my work moved away from minimalist abstractions and started to veer more towards an expressionist style. Through 2020 and going into 2021, I am exploring ideas that attempt to strike a balance between a minimalist mindset and the spontaneity of an expressionist. The paintings are created using acrylic on heavyweight paper and sometimes I use charcoal, graphite and oil pastel. In the next few month I will be starting to execute my larger paintings on canvas.
