This painting is a visual play on the subject matter: loaded dice. Treating "loaded" in reference to a firearm, the dots on the dice are depicted as bullet holes. These bullet holes are a tongue in cheek trope found in automotive culture , in their faux nature of imaginary damage showing some sort of toughness, danger or resiliency of some sort (can't kill me?) Dice games bring a notion of gambling, and a danger inherent with such, this visual play, with an explosive/flame like explosion in the back adds to the urgency of the moment shown.
