About The Artwork

This painting, mainly in black and white, is the sixth one of a series inspired by the theme of recycling, that is by cardboard forms, begun in 2017. It is exclusively constructed with forms of flattened cardboard from our household. Some of these forms evoke fishes, some buildings, or maybe a piece of a guitar, many of them evoke simple garbage, others nothing particular. The choice of the black, the grey and the white illustrate certain pessimism on the state of pollution of our oceans, whereas the yellow spot suggests a future hope. (painted June 2017, signed on the back, with crystal clear, permanent protection, Acryl-Fixativ Lascaux #2070) (can also be shipped "ready to hang" with the canvas stretched over it; in this case, given the increased shipping cost, an additional $150 should be added to the listed price) *** Cette peinture, principalement en noir et blanc, est la sixième d'une série inspirée par le thème du recyclage, c'est-à-dire par des formes en carton, commencée en 2017.

- Photo: Naples, Italy, March 2019 - Born April 1947, married, 2 children, 5 grand children. - Graduated in economics, then swiss banker in private banking from 1974 to 2007. - Started drawing in travel sketchbooks (self taught) at the age of 48 in 1995, and painting much later in 2007 at the age of 60. - Former "urban sketcher", from 2020, writer of historical novels. My desire to paint comes from the interest for expressing something aesthetic or gaudy, for finding an unstable equilibrium, for experimenting with different approaches, for renewal, testing, trying. Even though I’ve done mini-series, I don’t like to stick to one repetitive process. To me, painting is a dialogue between control and letting go and abstraction is of particular interest because it allows us to to express things that would otherwise escape our senses. It’s still a large field, even though everything is supposed to have already been made.
