Art Description

Painting: Watercolor, Ink, Monotype on Paper.

This work is inspired by the idea of loyalty. It is written in English and Spanish. The text is from the Bible when Jesus prays for his disciples before he dies. It is an expression of love for them as they were his loyal friends. But when they failed, he remained their friend. I hope the work evokes ideas of love and faithfulness towards loved ones. The style is expressive calligraphy as I find words acquire a deeper meaning when written on large format. The piece is done on watercolor paper so it would be best to frame it on larger frame (24x36) so it floats. Because it is watercolor paper, when one paints it develops the beautiful and soft curls on the paper. Thus, floating it on the frame would not only give it breathing room but also would enhance the watercolor paper qualities.
