But his sister's rendition of "You look like a monkey and you smell like one too" is a birthday buzzkill. I love nostalgia and humor, and this piece has some of each. I used several colors to render this boy's face and fingers, although I left out flesh colors in order to create interest and a fun vibe. I like using a combination of 3-D modeling (portrait) and a flat style (cake and stand) to further the interest in my pieces. I also like to title my paintings with full sentences and subtitles to bring a little humor and to let the viewer know a little more about the subject. This piece's edge is painted red. Hanging hardware is installed.
