About The Artwork

Inspired by a cut of an aging tree trunk, this work composed of 4 panels of 29x29 cm each is very textured. The subject continues on the edge and framing is not necessary. Mixed media: acrylic on sculpted texture paste on a stretched canvas Signed on the back By observing a slice from the trunk of a tree, we can see rings. Each double circle (one light and one dark) corresponds to one year of the life of the tree. We can also know what was the life of the tree: Thin rings are the sign of a slowed growth but on the contrary, very wide rings show that the tree was in the ideal conditions to develop. Not all trees have the heart in the center. If the tree is hampered by another on one side, or so too exposed to the wind, it will grow less life on one side than on the other ...

Natalie L. fascination for the Impressionists led her to create her first paintings under this influence. As her tastes has been evolving towards modern and contemporary art, she has gradually moved away from figuration. After a career in the tourism industry, Natalie, a Parisian born artist, left the city life in 1999 to embark on a somewhat "bohemian life style". Traveling the South Pacific gave her the time and inspiration to fulfill her dream of becoming a full-time artist. One of the consequential experiences of her life was sailing around the world. That will lead her to live between Florida and the south west of France. She works in series and the themes and styles are influenced by that changing temporality. From figurative to abstract, from cubism to impressionism, from painting to sculpture, her very eclectic work reflects the pleasure she feel in experimenting. Her most recent work focus on new interpretation of cubism including figurative subjects matters.
