MOTHER EARTH Painting

In this work, my aim was to recreate the ancient archetype of Mother Earth while avoiding the excessive sexualization of the feminine image. The figure of the ancient goddess is traceable in many cultures and nations, but in Ukraine, it holds a unique role. In my painting, Mother Earth extends her arms toward the sun in a pleading gesture, beseeching to preserve and protect her children. The viewer beholds her mighty presence, as if standing on the edge of the world. The clear expanse of the sky fills the canvas, emphasizing an ancient world where tranquillity has not yet been disturbed. What is that red glow on the horizon? Is it the sunlight, or could it be flashes of future wars that will unfold on our sacred land?
