Terra Neidorf, 1998 "Madness", 2021 series "I am" acrylic, textured paste, burlap mixed media 190 x 70 x 2.5 cm Madness for an artist is like the best muse. Violation of the perception of reality shows that reality is not so real, and unreality is even quite real. Losing your head isn't that scary. Sometimes this is the best meal for the best ideas. In my experience, a nervous breakdown subsequently gives ideas. "I am" All artworks from this series are my self-portraits. Images come to mind in an instant. They are a manifestation of various uncontrolled deep mental processes in my work with subsequent representation. I believe that an artist should have a voice, talk about the topical issues, raise important critical issues of modern life through creativity. Critique of the Anthropocene is a topic that I work with and that I consider to be the main one. However, in addition to the conceptual, the unconscious comes to me, which I cannot always explain. The series is inexhaustible and will continue. In this way I study myself, my identity and psyche.
