I always look at any image of a woman with a baby in awe. The truth most often are icons, the writing of which requires a certain state, outlook, spiritual and physical purity and much more. That is why I was so impressed by Roberto Ferruzi's painting "Madonna of the Streets". Initially it was not devoted to a religious theme and was painted by an ordinary artist, not an iconographer. Although later it became popular as an image of the Virgin Mary holding her little son.
For me it was as if permission from above, to write pictures of such direction. It was on the verge of religion and real life. In fact, every mother with a child in her arms can be called a Madonna.
The birth of a child is, I think, the greatest mystery on earth. And the greatest happiness for any woman, who is the real Madonna...
The work uses canvas, oil and golden sweat. The mosaic technique of applying the sweat over the drawing gives a modern look to the picture. At the same time the inner spirituality of the content is preserved.
The work is written using only high quality and natural materials and paints that do not fade over the years, but are even more filled with energy and inner light. The coating is dammar varnish, which gives the paint even more transparency.
