ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The painting was created using two mediums: acrylic and alcohol inks. The movement of the two dragonflies symbolically represents the cycle of events and relationships. Halyna Rabchevska was born on 1984 in Kyiv, Ukraine. Due to the war in Ukraine, on December, 2022, she had to move to Lodz, Poland. Her creative work is focused on highlighting the problems, experiences, and adaptation of displaced individuals. She works as an artist, focusing on addressing life issues and emotions related to forced displacement of people. She also uses her works and methodologies in art therapy work with children and adults, exploring the possibilities of expressing feelings and emotions through art. She works with alcohol inks, watercolors, acrylics, and pastels. In her work, she uses alcohol inks as they provide an unpredictable effect, spreading and splattering - something that is hard to achieve with other materials. Each painting is unique and original due to the properties of alcohol inks.
