Painting: Acrylic, Spray Paint on Wood.
Mangata 42 is part of a series which exercises the marrying of chance-derived gestures with systematic grid geometry. In this body of work, I explore the pictural ideas in the works of Frank Stella's grids, Matisse's cut-outs and Gerhard Richter's blurred aesthetic.
Through this playful hybridization, I set out to create a dynamic composition of motifs emerging out of obscuration and repetition.
The art is done on a wood panel with its sides kept clean and the surface lightly varnished. It comes ready to hang.
