My work expresses the belief that unreal, imaginary worlds can anchor themselves in reality and take shape by extracting the primitive essence of form. The canvas becomes a medium between instinct and control, between flesh and memory, between gesture and structure. Sheets of paper are stitched onto the canvas as if they were wounds to be sutured, documents to be preserved, bodies to be held back. Paper, once a support for drawing, transforms into a fragile, precarious presence, destined to be swallowed by the pictorial matter. It is the memory of the image, forcibly sewn into the surface of the painting, into the canvas, that becomes first a mark, then an act: the thread holds together, tears apart, traces the boundary between what is inside and what is trying to emerge. All of this happened in Palermo.
