Painting: Dye Transfer on Aluminium.
Rich, deep-purple rock faces of the Maroon Bells in Aspen, Colorado. Original painting by Topher Straus.
Straus' National Parks series is currently being exhibited by museums and galleries across the nation, including the Katonah Museum of Art in Katonah, NY and Bitfactory Gallery in Denver, CO. Eight works from this series are also being featured in Topher's solo exhibit in Golden, CO at the American Mountaineering Museum.
Inspired by his own exploration of the outdoors and a strong desire for continued environmental preservation, Straus' large-scale paintings take an original approach to depicting iconic landscapes around the world. Straus' process blends photography with digital painting. The completed image is printed onto a large sheet of aluminum and finished with a high-gloss transparent acrylic resin. The final result is a vibrant, transcending abstraction of familiar scenery.
