About The Artwork
Ray Harris Ching is a great inspiration because of his artistic mastery of his subject. Very few people have the experience to get so close to raptors and to be able to appreciate their true colouring and feather design. Oil is a versatile medium and my love for birds of prey inspired this painting.

I was born in Cape Town, South Africa in 1955 to an Afrikaans speaking mother and Irish father. Our family moved to Namibia (South West Africa). Currently I live in the quaint village of Jacobs Bay, Western Cape, South Africa. I’ve been fascinated by birds and other animals since I could walk. Somehow the independent character shown by each species has been an endless source of inspiration. I am particularly interested in raptors with their watchful eyes and princely dignity.
