About The Artwork
This painting was done in honor of the late Marty Kruse, who helped found and orgamize the Union at Powell's Books in Portland. I only knew Marty after he died, but I was told he was a great snorer in addition to being incredibly kind and charismatic. This painting depicts Marty's snores as they might greet a friendly body in a hot and dry place. The woman in the painting is his widow, who could not often sleep when the poor man snored. This painting is done in oils and is ready to hang. It is framed in reclaimed hardwood that is beautifully finished.
