When my daughter was 5 years old, she began gathering objects and materials from diverse sources, which she assembled, wrapped, cut, and painted to create what she calls 'materialistas.' These 'materialistas' are fascinating assemblages of objects because their existence obeys that unique ability that children have to see the world with astonishment. I view the 'materialistas' as a system of work that artists and children share—a kind of game that involves facing the world through observation, with the desire to explore and create new articulations and interpretations. Therefore, I incorporated these 'materialistas' into my work by representing them in photographs, paintings, and videos. This is one of those paintings.
