In my painting I never stick to copying the motifs. Through my expressive way of painting, a new reality develops in the painting process. As with this portrait of Mathilda, a beautiful woman was created on watercolor paper. Due to my spontaneous choice of colors, the picture is very powerful and seems exotic, but due to the woman's closed eyes it radiates a relaxed atmosphere. I painted this watercolor work of art on 300g handmade paper from Arces. I particularly like working on this high-quality paper because the watercolor flows well and appears brilliant and luminous after drying. A passepartout and a frame are required to hang up this picture. As an artist, I would be happy if my work got an owner who loves it.

Watercolor painting has occupied me for over 25 years. The first pictures I painted were realistic floral watercolors and landscapes. Through my training as a hairdresser and make-up artist, portraits and the whole person were later added as painting motifs. In the course of time, however, the desire to be able to paint even more freely has developed in my painting. So I began to abstract and transform my motifs more and more. This made it easier for me to express my feelings and to show how I see the world. In the process, my very personal style of painting has developed. For me, emotions are very strongly connected to my painting. Joy unfolds in me a powerful and spontaneous color choice that inspires me. It helps me to go to work energetically and boldly. Each of my works is a part of me. It often requires tension, but at the same time it is my drive and my enthusiasm for painting that gives me strength. For me, a courageous use of strong colors also means accepting failures, on the other hand being rewarded with fantastic interpretations. I'm not a fan of classic watercolor painting, which strictly forbids any combination of other painting media. Freedom in painting is very important to me. That's why I use in my works what artists' supplies have to offer in terms of ink, chalk and pencils. More about me: www.angela-tatli.de
