You can see the painting process here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_2Euj5TbfY Like most of the children in Mexico, I was raised in the Catholic tradition, then a fascination for the ancient religious iconography was so obvious. Since young, far from being interested in the sunday liturgy mass, my gaze was focused on those painful madonnas of European origins, the Mexican baroque its exaggeration in the images and in the omnipresent figure of the Virgin of Guadalupe but also the rituals from the indigenous traditions. Later I lived and studied in central Europe for 5 years. And i was so obsessed with the Medieval cathedrals, icons and ancient jewellery but also the popular culture, the mix of different cultures, races and different types of music in those cosmopolitan cities. In this research I start to incorporate as a support some illustration, kind of an “academic” type of drawing with subjects inspired from different periods of the art history mixed with contemporary themes, mainly other artists. Once this “first layer” is finished, mainly made of graphite, i use it as a “surface” of the canvas to return to my original abstract and calligraphic technique. I consider this final phase as the most important and the main part of the work. At first glance it may seem opposite but if we see this mixt of process with the eyes of dialectic maybe we can find a kind of a synthesis in between. This calligraphy on these almost religious images could represent a kind of sand Tibetan Buddhist mandala tradition (Del-Tson-Kyl-Khor) but also a mix between Pink Floyd and J.S. Bach with Cumbias.

Open to commissions... I like to focus on the micro daily events, because those ‘small ‘ unnoticed moments are the ones that shape our trajectories but are so minute, they are oftentimes overlooked. That’s why I choose to highlight them as what they truly are: major, important and expressive events in disguise. I write over faces with my Self-created calligraphy, forms and circles that reminds me of vinyl records and the ritual they represent as a celebration of time. As a lover of the ephemeral, I'm also an audiophile and a music lover. I paint within multiple layers to represent our actions within time, almost as the layers of earth and dust left behind as we evolve. And over these layers, I integrate my calligraphy work which is a kind of Glossolalia. The means I choose for painting are vastly different: from old school graphite, oil, pigments and acrylics to modern and urban spray paint. A mix, I believe, represents very well the plurality of voices in this world: a land where the artisanal rural and the bold modern live by side. My art project is about the passage of time in a person’s life, one that is shaped by Challenges, Interactions, occurrences, and encounters. But also opportunities for meditation and appreciation for this rare, minuscule and unrepeatable moment in time: The present.
