Metal I-III Painting

Please note that this is on three separate pieces of wood forming a small triptych. I have not cropped the image fully leaving the background showing so the image is viewed and closer to its normal size. Part of a collection exploring the relationship of nostalgic, old and found objects. The inspiration comes from the objects themselves and the way I respond to them when I find them (or they find me). These pieces of cutlery were found at a small antiques market in Cheddar. The metallic surfaces were fascinating to render as most of my other paintings haven't involved anything that shiny. I hope to capture the lost feel of simplicity, the emotions of longing and nostalgia. There solitary compositions and muted palette denoting a melancholic undertone.
