Moon Peak and Triund Meadow of the Dhauladhar Himalayas from Dharamsala India. 8inx10in /20cmx25cm. Acrylic impasto on Canvas Board, Framed in Silvery Gold Wood, Ready to Hang ~Priyadarshini Ohol Dated 3rd instead of 4th The painting depicts a Himalayan Peak overlooking a Himalayan meadow. I'm fascinated by the mountains though I'm of and from the sea, and maybe for it too. I'd climb hills around me as a child to find peace in places I called "on top of the world." I loved climbing. Whether it was rocks or hills to trees. Living near the Sahayadri hills, trekking hills became a default activity. When I'd hear of Everest I'd wonder how it would be to climb it. So slowly I'm moving closer and closer into the Himalayas and exploring my emotions and affinity for them. These are the Dhauladhars, the lap of the Himalayas. As you come towards Dharamsala, they tower above you. The entire range, so grand and like a shimmering wall. That painting is in my mind's eye. Climbing the Himalayas is a different ball game both for health and wrt altitudes. Do we love them enough, can we appreciate the beauty enough, do I need them in my life, like I need the sea? I don't know yet, but as they come to me and I meditate on them with my brush, we will develop a sort of intimacy. I'll know the mountain's ridges and depressions, it's highs and lows and myriad moods. And then I'll either love them or hate them. But even so the #Himalayas will always be majestic. #Abodeofthegods #HimalayanPaintings #Himalayanpainting #HimalayanLandscape #mountainpaintings #mountainview #mountainpainting #Paintingoftheday #artistsofinstagram #artcollectorsofig #artforsale #Mountainpaintingsforsale #himalayanpaintingsforsale #buyartonline #buyart #artcurators #mountainmadness # #artcollective #artcollection #mountains #MoonPeak #Triund #IndianArt #IndianArtist #MountainLove #ArtGallery #priyadarshinioholart #priyadarshiniohol #snowart

Priyadarshini Ohol came to the arts after a ski accident equipped with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and experience in business and high impact socio-political activism. Post recuperation, Ohol spent years in her Himalayan studio in Dharamshala, establishing an influential, independent, avant garde practice which finds expression in painting, performance, video, performative painting, butoh, poetry, articles, interdisciplinary immersive installations, experimental and collaborative works. This examination and transformation of misery, fate, human experience into thriving life rooted in radical self care, scientific inquiry, authenticity, freedom, play is at the core of her art practice. Ohol’s sensitive multilayered performances play with perceptions, challenge norms and change art landscapes. Derivatives of her work appear, the subjects she examines and the language find their way into variegated vocabularies. Yet, her abstract expressionist canvases clearly indicate her irreverence for categories betraying a fierce need for artistic freedom. She says her work includes stream of consciousness art, yet given it’s reflexive dynamism, it is best described by the term agile art. Ohol’s is a complex social practice examining the self in relation to the world, equality, exclusion, inclusion, identity, belonging, dehumanization, discrimination, casteism, freedom, sexuality, gender, feminism, possession, dispossession, ethics, classism, displacement, fraternity, regional and global politics, the politics of locations of the body, the meaning of art, possibilities of artistic cultural impact and artivism in an increasingly changing, conflict ridden, technologically driven, globalized, fragmented world.
