This artwork belongs to my series "Moonlight on the water." The work was done using acrylic paints on a canvas panel (19.7 х 19.7in.). The composition, conceived by the author with a black sky on a white background, is successfully complemented by a very simple black author's wooden frame. I am trying to develop theme "Moonlight on the water" in my minimalist seascapes with the utmost simplicity and the mixing of a minimal color palette. Taking on the theme of the Moon in the night sky, I was encouraged by my childhood acquaintance with the almost mystical painting by the artist Arkhip Kuindzhi "The Moon Night on the Dniepr River" (1840) and a recent visit to his memorial apartment. When the painting was exhibited, the illusion of light appeared to be so realistic that many people furtively attempted to look behind the canvas, certain there must have been a lamp there. To intensify the effect, the picture was placed in a dark hall and enlightened by one electric beam aimed directly at it. Ready to hang. All artworks have got authoring Certificate of authenticity. Painting is signed ON THE FRONT (BAT) and BACK (full information). Please note that artworks in the living are somewhat different from the images on the monitors. Thank you for viewing.

I have always regarded myself as an experimenter. Each day I learn and explore something new that I test, develop and apply. I use oil-painting, acrylic and watercolour, aiming to use each technique for what they respectively allow to achieve artistically. I never know what I will paint in detail, how the finished artwork will look, my hands just do it. When artwork is in the final stages, I normally stand back and look; and I will spend more time looking at it than painting as I try to assess colour balance and overall feel.
