Mountain view at the Moiry Reservoir (SERIES Val d'Anniviers) Painting

SERIES Val d'Anniviers - In August, I spent a week in Zinal and the surrounding mountains and villages at the end of the Val d'Anniviers in the Swiss Alps to make sketches and gather impressions for later studio paintings, but also to paint outdoors. The mountains around the Moiry reservoir are an inexhaustible source of mountain impressions that are likely to ground and humble any visitor. During my stay in Zinal, I returned to the reservoir and the surrounding mountains three times to soak up these impressions. On that first day, the sky was a clear, dark, deep blue, creating a perfect stage for the sunlit snowfields, which contrasted with deep shadows and sharp rock shapes.
