A landscape or seascape is a good starting point to create a sense of wonder, time and place in a painting. From close observation of the natural world my inspiration is drawn from the countryside and coastal regions of the South West in the UK, the Lake District and the Lovely Ionian Islands of Greece. I have to confess that falling in love with the remote and bewilderingly beautiful Isles of Scilly defined my practice as an Artist and it is of these islands I sell more paintings, and get more commissions than for any other subject. Although I paint in oils, on a smaller scale I have been experimenting with watercolour and sgraffito. Having travelled to Asia for the last three years some of my paintings now reflect a more oriental subject matter .
