ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This canvas explores the iconic Mr.Men characters created by Roger Hargreaves, and was pivotal in leading the artist to paint a large scale Mr.Men mural in Qatar in association with Qatar Museum and Worldwide Walls. Inspired by reading the Mr.Men books with his kids, Marwan was encouraged by the power and authenticity that the characters carried, pushing him to explore the synergy between the artists iconic cloud and Hargreaves pop culture icons. This canvas also explores broadening the features of the cloud, and here we see a previously unseen and new version of the cloud sitting in the pocket of Mr.Bump. Please see page 8 of the artists portfolio in the link below to see more details of the mural in Qatar. .pdf The canvas is tagged, signed, titled, dated on the back and comes with certificate of authenticity.

Marwan Shakarchi

Marwan Shakarchi

United Arab Emirates

Marwan Shakarchi was born in the United Kingdom in 1984 after his parents emigrated from Baghdad in the 1980’s. In 2008 he created the iconic cloud which later became the symbol for the art movement known as Myneandyours. Following working alongside artist, activist and founder of Obey Giant, Shepard Fairey, Marwan relocated to Dubai, UAE where he was able to contribute to the growth of culture. The Myneandyours project evolved into an experiment in symbology, helping the viewer develop an understanding of how a symbol, in this case a cloud, can affect their perceptions of the environment. Marwan’s practice has been affiliated with a broad range of clientele, working with public murals, digital illustration, visual communication, and fine art. He has developed projects with government entities, private developers, private art collectors and internationally recognised brands.
