ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This painting was inspired by a trip to Mount Etna, Sicily. We traveled up the mountain by cable car and were able to view the entire area. I was fascinated by the flowers which grew out of the lava in different places and all the greenery that had sprouted around them. I completed the painting in my studio using a photo which I had taken. I used a mixture of cement, sand, gravel, & stone combined with pumice medium for the earth. This was troweled on to a wooden backing and when dry, the painting was completed using acrylic paint.
