Melissa Broadwell is an American abstract expressionist with autism recognized for her spiritually guided and intuitive approach to painting. As an autistic artist, she experiences the world through heightened patterns, energy, and sensory perception — a way of seeing that becomes the foundation of her work. Each painting begins without a plan; instead, she follows movement, color, and internal guidance, allowing the composition to emerge naturally, often revealing its meaning only in the final stages. Her practice is both meditative and deeply connected to spiritual light. Broadwell begins each piece in prayer, asking to be led through the flow of creation. The result is a visual language defined by layered textures, organic forms, and luminous transitions that explore the connection between consciousness, nature, and the unseen energetic world. Since beginning her artistic journey in 2021, Broadwell’s work has gained international visibility. She has exhibited at the Aswan International Painting Symposium in Egypt, the Night of the Arts at Euman Gallery in Finland, Boomer Gallery in London, and in multiple global group exhibitions. She is a recipient of the BoldBrush Outstanding Digital Award and holds additional international recognitions. Her work appears in several media features, and she is ranked within the top one million visual artists worldwide according to ArtFacts . Broadwell’s paintings reflect her belief in art as a form of communication between the physical and the spiritual. Each work carries the intention of connection, healing, and a sense of universal consciousness.
