Painting: Oil, Charcoal, Black & White, Paint on Wood, Other.
One painting out of a series based on old family photos depicts my grandfather from a 1950s military service photograph. In recent months, I've been focusing on the aspect of immigration and immigrants acting almost as double agents in their environments. Large parts of the immigrant experience is nestled in the idea of home and being rooted in a place of origin. Family photographs form a large part of this experience. As an immigrant myself, I find that I am now dealing with a double identity and constantly torn between them, not knowing which one is the 'true' identity, the one of roots and origin or the one of an adopted home.
