About The Artwork

I painted my cat called 'Pudra' for a long time. She died years ago so I thought I should paint Pudra so, she was the main subject for my paintings for a while. I oftentimes used acrylic to make these paintings.

Born in 1971. Graduated from Gazi University, Ankara, Turkey in BFA between 1989 and 1993. Attended Master`s Programme at Hacettepe University Faculty of Fine Arts Department in Ankara between 1993 and 1995. Awarded and sent to the U.S. between 1995 and 1998 in order to get his Master`s degree in Painting at Rochester Institute of Technology, School of Art & Design in Rochester, New York. Between 2000 and 2003 Alpaslan UÇAR worked as a Research Assistant at Abant Izzet BAYSAL University, Department of Art Education, Bolu, Turkey. Between 2005 and 2006, Alpaslan UCAR was sent to Accademia di Belle Arti, L`Aquila, Rome, Italy for his PhD study. UCAR was awarded his PhD in 2007 from Marmara University. Alpaslan UCAR so far has had 11 solo shoe design, painting and sculpture exhibits abroad mainly in the US, Italy, the Czech Republic and Portugal and 8 solo shows in Turkey. Moreover, he has participated in more than 150 juried art competitions and exhibitions. His articles on art have been published in art magazines and several congress books as well. He has won several honors including 65th the State Painting Success Award and 2nd place in the 7th Jockey Club of Turkey Award. In 2008 he was selected to receive a Post-Doctoral Fellowship from Turkish Cultural Foundation, Istanbul. In 2009 he was selected one of the best artists in painting by Marquis ‘Who’s Who’. In 2010, he received his second Post-Doctoral Fellowship to study design at Parsons, The New School, in New York City. Alpaslan UCAR currently has been working as a full time Professor Dr. at Abant Izzet BAYSAL University, Department of Art Education in Bolu, Turkey. He is fluent in both English and Italian. His art works can be found in several art museums and private art collections.
