“life without passion is unforgivable” Artist Robbert Strüwer paints the eternal female form. In a strong. Manly way. His passion for portraying feminine beauty oozes out of his canvasses. His paintingstyle is characteristic as is his portrayal of feminine beauty. Strüwer paints full and partial nudes. Always young and dynamic. As a late starter he developped very quickly. Applied Art to begin with, he opted for studying fashion and graphic design at the Art Academy. His view on elegant anatomical structures still serves him well. Remarkable in Robbert’s style is the merging of drawing and painting. Their outlines and curves are fashioned by use of trails of paint straight from the tube. He adds colour by experimenten with lacquer, epoxy, glue and captains, riesling in random cracks and undulations. Thinner lacquer causes an exciting paintsurface on the canvas. Modest grey-tones with stylish accents are his choice to day. Many artists can express passion by using bright colours and wild brush-strokes. Using misty greys nuances the quality and female form. Sometimes this perspective is so penetrating that dimensional illusion appears. In this way his “image of a woman” becomes more interesting. Lida Bonnema, art historian resencent.
