Painting: Acrylic on Canvas.
In case it isn’t obvious, I’m more of a fan of blurred, flowing surfaces, rather than Cubist-like, geometric pieces. Regardless, I wanted to see if I could make a piece that captures the geometry of the NYC skyline, while also capturing the energy of the City and maybe even a blurred, flowing surface.
I also didn’t want to use a brush. So, I used several spackle knives of different widths to apply the black and white paint, and to also blend the two. I couldn’t layer the piece as much as my other pieces because it would get too thick, but at least it gave me a different experience with more of a geometric feel.
This piece is part of my BLACK OPS series.
