Willem van Aelst (Netherlands. Willem van Aelst, born May 16, 1627 (baptized) Utrecht or Delft - d. After 1683 Amsterdam) - Dutch artist of the Baroque era, master of still life. Willem van Aelst (1626-1683), was a talented and flamboyant Dutch artist who specialized in painting floral and fruit still lifes, like his uncle and teacher, the artist Evert van Aelst of Delft (1602-1657), whose name, to unfortunately only found in the archives and who died in utter poverty. The earliest of van Aelst's works "Still Life with Fruit" (1642), was destroyed in the Second World War, this work, according to experts, was written in the style and under the influence of his teacher.
