About The Artwork
This painting is a tribute to one of the Famed Legends of the Negro Baseball League , William "Judy "Johnson. 1899 to 1989 . For many years a resident of Wilmington Delaware and contributed to inspiration for youth even into his senior years. Also from Salisbury Maryland Eastern Shore area at various points in his life. Wilmington Blue Rocks Stadium celebrates a day dedicated to William Judy Johnson every year with members of the Negro League Hall of Fame baseball players attending, and often posing for portraits that I sketch in charcoal or pastels or acrylics.
