About The Artwork
Intrigued by the "middle-period" cubist paintings by Picasso and also Braque and wondering how they influenced their future work...I gave it a go. To me, cubism is driven by a certain rhythm which ties the composition together. One night in New York, while listening to an all night jazz station, I completed the underdrawing and proceeded to put paint to canvas. I finished as the sun was coming up. Both the palette and composition are cohesive because it was shaped by the jazz over a condensed painting session.
