About The Artwork
This painting is part of a series of works based on trees and the rays of sunlight seeping through them, in response to a group of pine trees that were cut down in front of my house and that I used to meditate to in the afternoons when the sun was setting behind them. It is my way of commemorating their beauty and company, and remembering the sense of loss and emptiness when they were gone, as if I was grieving over the loss of a close relative.
