Marcel Witte (Uithoorn, The Netherlands, 1974, self-educated). Lives and works in Mijdrecht, The Netherlands. Since 2003, he builds a successful career as a professional artist. His art is unique in every aspect of the word and follows a logical process. By choosing Hyperrealism, he makes no concessions to current art trends. Highly technically skilled and with a perfect eye for detail, he paints nearly life-size animals against a monochromatic background. What seems to be a simple image, turns out to be a refined composition in which each detail has its meaning. The way in which the painting is composed and in the way the painting's elements work together form a coherent whole. The choice for the background colour, the title... Nothing is a coincidence. The background of the paintings seems to be swept. A single colour deepens the image, intensifies the contrast and creates an emptiness that is at the same time attractive and repelling. By transforming human features into animals, the paintings confront the viewer, but at the same time they create enough distance to put your own human thoughts and deeds into perspective. Because of the strange setting, the public is put on the wrong foot again and again. This creates a tension, which never leaves the spectator indifferent. Besides a good sense of humour, there is always a hidden message in the painting. It's up to the public to find it. Marcel is a visual storyteller, within the literary tradition of fables. Marcel Witte often exhibits in The Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, France and Denmark. His paintings are found in private collections in The Netherlands and abroad.
