SA Patton is a communicator. He speaks through images with hidden narratives and real life drama and has been given a special eye for the beautiful, fascinating and even tragic things that comprise our world. He only paints subjects that meet a very strict set of requirements and considers each painting a composition, not unlike a symphony orchestra or motion picture. The objective of many of his compositions is to convey messages that provoke powerful emotions such as inspiration, longing or compassion that make lasting impressions on the beholder. Other works of his are on the lighter end of the art spectrum and touch the whimsical and colorful. Educated in art exclusively by his father, Scott Allen grew up witnessing a true master weave light, objects and truth into the most marvelous works of art. Never content to crank out vague, mundane works, he desires to impart a higher level of consciousness, which ultimately brings out the best of the beholder. He is content to paint only a few high quality works per year and this has a strong appeal for collectors. For example, his work entitled, “Homeless,” painted from an actual, unstaged photograph, is meant to inspire compassion and even anger that there are two hungry little boys living on a piece of cardboard in a stairwell when someone, more fortunate, could easily shelter them. “If the viewer doesn’t at least think, “How could something like this could happen without someone intervening? Then my message has failed to get across,” he writes. "Listing art shows, awards or formal education in order to increase sales is not consistent with my vision," he explains. "That is for commerce. This is not about money. This is about the Immortal speaking and us listening." S A Patton lets his compositions speak on his behalf. Merely producing and selling paintings is not how he believes his gift will have the greatest impact. “It is the message; the story that the painting tells that is meant to strike a blows to the heart, inspiring change. That is the objective of much of my art. If many of my paintings do not bring the viewers closer to their God, then my work has failed. If the viewers of my art are not smitten with a greater desire for the Divine, a greater sense of responsibility, a healthier perspective; if they do not at least offer a glimpse of the Creator’s magnificent being then I have not found my life’s work after all,” he explains.
