Painting: Oil on Canvas.
Henk van Vessem is an artist who paints with a grand gesture in strongly contrasting colors, at least as far as concerns the canvases. The pastels are of a more friendly nature and have softer colors. In the drawings, the performances are almost transparent and make the emotional values of color space for the spiritual values of transparent colors.
The performances on the canvases with paint and palette knife carved into expressionist landscapes in which to be missing or roads, but the signs of mental reflections of nature. The artist does not warn for the reversal of the question and answer, as evidenced by the title of a painting, "The water is asking for the time."
The painting "The horizon has become water" does not bear the atmosphere of a watered plain, but rather the opposite status of a large expanse of sand shimmering in the heat. The desire for water deforms perception and creates a mirage.
Time, space and matter are in the art of Henk van Vessem to exponents of inner imagination. The observation takes place "by the foliage of your hair", as shown by the title of a cloth. Contrary to what the title suggests, the thoughts of the artist in his paintings are clearly formulated and in brilliant colors expressed
