Short biography Aurelio Stimoli was born in 1959 in Paternò, a small town in southern Italy. From a poor and large family, her education was entrusted to a college of nuns. The detachment from the family and the strict education of the college are for him a traumatic event, which will lead him to estrange himself from the rest of the children and to devote himself secretly to the manufacture of small statuettes already from the age of 5. The following years were marked by serious family economic difficulties that forced him to abandon art to dedicate himself, while still a child, to work to feed the family. After the death of his father, when Aurelio was only 14, and due to the lack of work in the South, he decides to emigrate to Northern Italy in the hope of being able to help the family. So he lives a few years working with his brother like painter on the border with Switzerland. Returning to Sicily after several years, he rediscovers his love for sculpture and painting, so as soon as he has the chance he rents a small space where, in his free time, he devotes himself to his passion. At the age of 29 another traumatic event upsets his life, the younger brother to whom Aurelio was very Legato dies of cancer at the age of 27, an event that will deeply mark him both personally and from an artistic point of view. A few years later he married, and left for Germany with his wife in search of better living conditions. After a year their first child is born who suddenly passes away at the age of 1, another event that has shaken deeply his life and that of his wife. They then decide to return to Sicily where they have the affective support of the family. In the meantime, there is never a love for art arrested and in the mid-80s, pushed by some friends, he participated in a series of art exhibitions, where he received interest from several foreign investors, who would like to take it abroad to make it known in the artistic environment. But the urgent family needs push him to decline the offers and to stay in Sicily. Two more children are born, Hasari and Enrica, and in the meantime Aurelio continues to paint, despite his passion for art is not shared neither from his wife, nor from anyone else in the family context, which leads him to an attitude of closure and inner conflict.
